Crop Production in the United States: Southern Region

Goal:

To provide students with the primary crops grown, annual export value and unique facts about crop production for the states located within the Southern region of the United States.

Description:

Crop production is one of the most important industries in the United States. The Crop Production in the United States series takes a look at crops grown in the U.S. by region, as well as by state. In this presentation, students will discover valuable information regarding the types of crops grown in the Southern region as well as the economic impact and uses for specific nonfood crops. Students will also learn how crop production affects their everyday lives and why it is such a large and important industry.

Objectives:

1. To identify major crops grown in the Southern region of the United States.

2. To discuss the value of crop production in each state located in the Southern Region.

3. To analyze trends in crop production for the Southern Region.

To provide students with the primary crops grown, annual export value and unique facts about crop production for the states located within the Western region of the United States.
