Students will be working on the iCEV BASF Plant Science Certification modules, the lesson plans described below are for the Crop Production in the United States: Midwest Region & Crop Production in the United States: Northeast Region modules. Crop Production in the United States: Midwest Region
Goal:
To provide students with the primary crops grown, annual export value and unique facts about crop production for the states located within the Midwest region of the United States.
Description:
Crop production is one of the most important industries in the United States. The Crop Production in the United States series takes a look at crops grown in the U.S. by region, as well as by state. In this presentation, students will discover valuable information regarding the types of crops grown in the Northwest region as well as the economic impact and uses for specific nonfood crops. Students will also learn how crop production affects their everyday lives and why it is such a large and important industry.
Objectives:
1. To identify major crops grown in the Midwest region of United States.
2. To discuss the value of crop production in each state located in the Midwest Region.
3. To analyze trends in crop production for the Midwest Region.
