Plant Pests: Viruses

Students will be working on the iCEV BASF Plant Science Certification modules, the lesson plans described below are for the Plant Pests: Viruses module.

Goal:

To recognize the various types of viruses, areas they inhabit as well as the way to provide control through prevention and treatment.

Description:

This PowerPoint® presentation identifies various viruses. Students will learn the individual characteristics of the virus as well as the environmental conditions, prevention methods and treatment methods.

Objectives:

1. To identify viruses associated with common plants and crops.

2. To analyze the characteristics associated with common viruses of plants.

3. To identify viruses.

Assignments:

Assignments will be posted on the Plant & Soil Science Google Classroom, under the “Assignments” topic of the “Classwork” tab. Please pay attention to all due dates, which will be posted on the assignments along with the instructions for the assignment.

Plant Pests: Chewing Insects

Students will be working on the iCEV BASF Plant Science Certification modules, the lesson plans described below are for the Plant Pests: Chewing Insects module.

Goal:

To recognize the different types of chewing insects, the areas they inhabit and the various ways to control the pest population by utilizing an Integrated Pest Management program.

Description:

This presentation identifies various chewing insects. Students will learn characteristics, life cycles, prevention techniques and treatment methods, and the effect each pest has on plants as well as its economic impact. Students will also be able to identify pests associated with common plants and crops and determine uses and types of pesticides.

Objectives:

1. To identify pests associated with common plants and crops.

2. To analyze the characteristics associated with common pests of plants.

3. To identify the uses and types of pesticides.

4. To identify plant pests characteristics, effects on plants, prevention methods, treatment, life cycles and economic impact.

5. To identify chewing insects.

Assignments:
